Open House: A weekly look at Southside homes.
256 La Valette Ave. rests on a cul-de-sac overlooking the Lafayette River in Norfolk. Located at the back end of the Virginia Zoological Park, in the mornings, residents can watch the sun rise over the river and hear white rhinos and lions roar as they ready themselves for the day.
Part of the larger Riverview neighborhood, the area is relatively private and hosts about five homes. Four of those homes are nearly 100 years old, including 256 La Valette Ave. which was built in 1918 and was used to house Navy sailors.
Open House is a weekly feature looking at homes and unique places to stay in the Southside area. Do you have a home, on or off the market, that our readers may be interested in seeing? Let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
